Brandon Guthrie, from Action Sports to Web Based Technology, he Shares how the Arts Shape His Life
Brandon, CEO of Dream Design Labs tells us "I keep my mind sharp by keeping my body sharp. I do believe that having a thriving mind and body is key to living a creative, meaningful and contributing life."
"Growing up our mentors and parents always ask us what we want to be when we grow up, right? The reason they ask this is to inspire a purpose for our youth. We always expect a creative and maybe even outrageous response from a 5 year old child. That’s because their minds are open and flowing with creativity and wonder!"
"A recent study was conducted by a young 16 year old entrepreneur. He set up a booth at his high school asking kids to be a part of his rapidly growing technology company that had huge potential. After sending invitations to every kid in the school, they quickly realized, almost no one showed up to the presentation. Then the next week they took the exact same presentation to an elementary school, and were amazed by the results! These kids were throwing their lunch money at the new start up in order to invest in the next prototype! They were inspired and ready to jump on board for the next huge technology company! It’s very clear that within the 3 years from elementary to high school, the youth of this country are loosing their creativity, inspiration and motivation. Educators, mentors and parents have the opportunity to stop this atrocity that is happening to our youth. Keep the creativity as our countries future is growing up. Thinking out side the box is an amazing talent that so few people seem to have in abundance of."
"As for myself, I have tried to keep the creativity flowing through all the pressure to buckle down and take a 9-5 job. It’s hard to resist, but it has been the best decision I have made. I now own a web development business where I get to create the face of a company on the web. I can help people express their message through design and user interface. Along with hanging onto my dream to race professional motocross one day. I keep my mind sharp by keeping my body sharp! By racing motocross with an aspiration to race televised professional motocross, I have forced myself to learn how to work under pressure, and deliver when needed. I must deliver impossible results in my racing, which teaches me to deliver impossible results in my digital creativity. My work ethic in racing has translated directly to my work ethic in the digital arts world. Having a well functioning body, provides for a sharp mind, that can imagine and create on the spot. Having a body that is over weight, not healthy or having bad nutrition will begin to deliver depressed, struggling and slow results. It will begin to be very hard to get self motivated for clients, and produce EXCITING and INNOVATIVE code and design"
"So yes, I do believe that having a thriving mind and body is key to living a creative, meaningful and contributing life. So get out there, do what you love, and don’t listen to people (or yourself) if they tell you that you can’t do it. Because it’s not about doing it, it’s about believing you can do it, and going for it 1000%."
"No one ever changed the world, by doing what the world told them to do."
